According to a study by American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), problems of thinning hair and hair loss affect 50 million men and 30 million women across the U.S. AAD also mentions many illnesses and external factors, such as improper hair care, can cause hair loss. Although the real reason behind hair loss remains unclear, hereditary pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss which affects the hair loss rate and severity, and it may begin as early as puberty. Hereditary pattern baldness results in shorter, thinner and ‘miniaturised’ hair.
Besides genetics and daily hair shedding, ADD concludes a list of reasons for excessive hair loss after hairstyling:
1. Excessive or incorrect use of hairstyling products (e.g.
perming, hair dyes, gels, or hair volumizing or setting
sprays) that can lead to brittle and frizzy hair.
2. Hairstyles that pull tightly causing traction alopecia
(e.g. ponytails and French braid).
3.Hair washing, combing and excessing pulling of tangled of
hair.
4. Different diseases such as hypothyroidism and
hyperthyroidism.
5. Pregnancy, major surgery, high fever or serious
infection, influenza and stress.
6. Iron or protein deficiency and eating disorders (e.g.
anorexia and bulimia).
7. Certain prescribed drugs (e.g. blood thinners, high
dosage of vitamin A, and any drugs for cardiovascular
disease, osteoarthritis, gout, hypertension and
depression).
8. Birth control pills, which typically affects women with
hereditary pattern baldness.
9. Hormonal imbalance, especially for women.
10. Ringworm of the scalp (tinea capitis), which is a highly
contagious infection most common in toddlers and school-age
children.
11. Cancer treatments (e.g. radiation and chemotherapy).
12. Spot baldness (alopecia areata) affects people in all
ages. It is a common autoimmune skin disease that can cause
hair loss anywhere on their body.
According to AAD, the physical distress caused by hair loss is inevitable, so is the emotional pain it entails. It says ‘the experience of hair loss is psychologically damaging, causing intense emotional suffering, and often leading to personal, social, and work-related problems’.
Studies show that the problem of hair loss can be devastating to a patient’s self-esteem, self-image, and overall quality of life. Evidence confirms that depression, low self-esteem and less social experience have been the side effect of hair loss. Till now, there are only a handful of hair regrowth treatments on the market but none of them has been proven to be 100% effective on every one. Topicals and gels, prescribed drugs, Hydrocortisone or PRP injections, laser treatments, and hair transplant surgery can help with male pattern alopecia and women with hair thinning problem. Some of the treatments are surgical and may induce scarring, whilst others require drug in-take with adverse effect.
Majority of people loses around 100 strands of hair daily. Whilst hair (re)growing may sound easy and natural for most of us, some people feel distressed and struggle with hair loss problem. They have been searching long and hard for ways to restore their luscious hair.
Perfect Hair understands how difficult and upsetting hair loss is, and how stages of hair loss among men and women can significantly affect your quality of life. With our expertise in treating different types of hair loss, not only we know how to make your hair grow, but also how to bring your confidence back to life. Our F8 Hair Regrowth Treatment for Women is FDA-cleared, and completely free of side effects and discomfort.
Our F8 Treatment uses medical grade lasers to provide all the lights your hair needs to grow. Think gardening, hair follicle needs a good source of light and a good amount of water and nutrients to be healthy. F8 Treatment can restore your hair and at the same time stimulate your hair growth cycle: actively growing, resting, and shedding. It increases dermal blood flow and the metabolism of hair follicle, which boosts hair growth naturally. Cell activity in hair follicle under the stimulation of low level laser is able to put a halt to hair loss and help hair regrowth all in one go.
Any women who are experience signs of early stage hair loss, such as hair thinning, is suitable for F8 Treatment. Laser hair growth treatment is the most suitable for patients with male pattern baldness.
1. Safe and effective Research from National Institutes of Health (NIH) shows that laser hair growth treatment can stimulate hair growth, treating hair loss from chemotherapy and spot baldness (alopecia areata). In an NIH journal, it mentions ‘After the discovery of lasers in the 1960s, there has been tremendous interest in using these laser devices to treat various medical conditions.’ Clinical trials have proven the effectiveness in hair growth between male and female with lasers. In sum, laser hair treatment is safe and effective in male and female hair growth.
2. Use of cold laser According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), cold lasers have been widely used in medical field and it has been proven, biologically and chemically, that lasers and human tissue can integrate with one another. Laser applications in medical context include high intensity lasers for surgery and low-level laser for wound care to promote healing.
3. Non-invasive, pain-free and no incisions required Hair growth treatment uses ‘cold laser’ and their energy is absorbed by the targeted and localised tissue, unlike lasers for cutting and laser-induced tissue remodelling, cold laser does not generate heat. The wavelengths in hair growth treatment stimulate blood circulation, promote healthy growth and rejuvenation of tissue, and heal the damaged metabolism tissue cells.
4. Proven to significantly increase hair density Alopecia may result when there is a disturbance of regular hair growth cycle, causing a reduction of hair density or a reduction of hair shaft diameter. The cause can be attributed to 3 factors: (1) early termination of anagen, (2) prolonged telogen, or (3) failure to return to anagen. With the help of cold laser (or low level laser therapy), patients’ hair condition has seen significant improvement in terms of density.
Most people can expect to see results and a significant reduction in hair loss in 4-8 treatments’ time. For long term hair regrowth, you may want to consider a 12-16 treatments plan and regular maintenance.
For our signature F8 Hair Regrowth Treatment, we employ the most advanced medical grade technology to stimulate blood circulation and to provide oxygen to hair follicles for cell metabolism. From resting phase to growing phase, approximately 70% of hair will be stimulated. Our F8 treatment can improve your hair condition by making them stronger, brighter, and thicker.
